Securing Unstructured Data at HIMSS 2015
Jan 28, 2015
etherFAX is coming back to HIMSS! We are excited to announce our presence at HIMSS 2015 in Chicago this April. At the show, we plan to connect with Health IT professionals and learn more about their network security needs concerning key pain points – the transmission of unstructured data between EMRs, EHRs, HIEs and the most complex issue, unstructured patient data.
IDC recently stated that due to increased pressure to improve the quality of patient care and manage costs, 15 percent of hospitals will create a comprehensive patient profile by 2016, allowing them to deliver personalized treatment plans. For this, they’re going to need to secure their unstructured data.
What is unstructured data and how is it improving patient care?
In healthcare, there is a ton of “messy,” clinically important data that is recorded on behalf of patients for diagnostic and clinical purposes. The healthcare industry calls this unstructured data and it’s becoming a problem for Health IT departments who need to log and transport it securely.
Generally, unstructured data is contained within physician notes, referrals or discharge summaries. When this data is converted to an electronic record, it is often manually processed. This leaves a lot of room for mistakes in a costly and time-consuming practice, compromising security and confusing physicians. Automating unstructured data brings efficiency, speed and scalability to existing processes for healthcare organizations, but if this data isn’t secure, a data breach becomes more likely.
We want to spread the word – we can secure unstructured data for healthcare organizations.
Not only can we transport unstructured data for healthcare organizations securely, but we can do so leveraging the cloud, making the whole process more affordable, scalable and reliable.
Cloud technologies have been accused of lacking security in the past, but healthcare enterprises and the partners that support them are embracing them. Cloud technology has since evolved and is now more secure, helping Healthcare organizations stay complaint with regulations like HIPAA and PCI-DSS. etherFAX provides both the flexibility of the cloud and the comfort of compliance.
Compliance and the network are important for more than just the healthcare business, it’s important for the patient’s too. Because of this, we’repredicting that network security will be the number one focus for Health IT departments in 2015.
HIMSS15 – etherFAX is Providing a Solution
Visit us at HIMSS15. We can show you how we can improve your network security.
We showcase our Secure Exchange Network (SEN), which offers guaranteed secure delivery within the etherFAX network. SEN is designed specifically for the healthcare ecosystem, effectively solving the problem of transporting unstructured data and keeping healthcare organizations flexible and compliant.
We will also preview our newest analog device. As organizations transition to IP-based networks, extending fax machines to this infrastructure can be challenging. The analog-to-etherFAX (A2E) device connects existing analog fax machines to the etherFAX network, allowing faxes to be sent and received via the cloud, instead of the PSTN.
Come see us at Booth #5482.
We are always looking to connect with other network security providers and Health IT professionals, so let us know ahead of time that you’re going to stop by and we’ll be sure to look for you at the show.
